The last surviving Union soldier (1847–1956); current research suggests that he was also the last surviving soldier of the Civil War. Ballpoint signature, “Albert Woolson,” on an off-white 5 x 3 card. Accompanied by a letter of provenance from the recipient of the signature, stating, “When he was 108 years old, and a patient at St. Luke’s Hospital; I wrote him a letter…he sent me this autograph.” In fine condition, with a light shade of toning, a bit heavier to the edges.
