Missionary doctor, theologian, philosopher, organist, Bach expert, and winner of the Nobel Peace Prize (1875–1965). Stunning vintage matte-finish 10.75 x 13 photo of Schweitzer sitting at his table with a newspaper, amusedly looking over at his parrot Kudeku, who is perched on the edge of the table, signed and inscribed in the lower border in blue ink “To Mrs. Harriet G. Keating and Mr. G. Keating, Albert Schweitzer.” Above the inscription, he has added a handwritten caption of the photo, in German. Matted and framed to an overall size of 19 x 21.5. In fine condition, with Schweitzer making a small correction to inscription, adding a “G” in black ink after removing a mistake. A crystal clear, smile-inducing image.
