Vintage glossy 4.25 x 3.25 candid photo, taken on October 8, 1934, of Einstein in profile among a group of gentlemen in caps and gowns at the podium in Yeshiva College, the day he received the honorary degree of Doctor of Humane Letters, signed in fountain pen, “A. Einstein.” In fine condition.

On October 8, 1934, the founding president of Yeshiva College, Dr. Bernard Revel, conferred an honorary degree upon Prof. Albert Einstein of the Institute for Advanced Study in Princeton. Just one year after he moved to America and two years after its first graduating class, Einstein chose to express his personal support for a Jewish educational institution that combined religious studies with a liberal arts education. Candid signed images of Einstein are scarce.
