Albert Einstein Typed Letter Signed “Albert,” one page, 8.25' x 10.75”. Princeton, New Jersey, April 2, 1943. To an unidentified cousin. In German with full English translation. In full, “We have read your interesting description of 'Exodus from Mizrahim' here with greatest interest. What really makes me happy is the matter of fact way in which our Jewish people in the whole world hold together. That is worth more and stronger than a country and an army. I was very happy about the visit of Anneliese and her wonderful husband. He looks like a robust leftover from the Maccabee's time, i.e. like a solid rock.” In a postscript, Einstein adds, “Perhaps you have only a few copies of this travel description. If you want me to, I can send my copy back.” “Exodus from Mizrahim” was a newspaper series in the San Francisco Chronicle by Einstein's cousin relating his experiences in leaving Germany and coming to the United States via Russia, China, and Japan. Anneliese is his cousin's daughter. Einstein family letters signed “Albert” are virtually unobtainable.
