Physicist (1852–1931) who was the first American scientist to win a Nobel Prize in 1907. ALS signed “A. A. Michelson,” one page, 8.25 x 5.5, University of Chicago Ryerson Physical Laboratory letterhead, February 27, 1903. Letter to an admirer. In full: “I am glad to comply with your request and regret not having been able to attend to it before.” In very good condition, with two vertical folds, one through a single letter of signature, uniform toning, and some scattered soiling.
