TLS in German, one page both sides, 5.25 x 8.5, blind-stamped personal letterhead, August 6, 1930. Letter to Heinrich K. Strohm, the director of the Stadttheaters Aachen, about a planned performance of Berg’s opera “Wozzeck” on the occasion of the “Musikfestes der Internationalen Gesellschaft für neue Musik” as well as for Liège and Amsterdam. In part, with several corrections and additions in berg’s hand: “Unfortunately I can not even be here to stay I need for my work at 'Lulu', and would probably not break up into the winter. To Liege so I'm certainly not, and probably difficult to Amsterdam…the rest, I believe that the Aachen reqs [indeed been entrusted to a major - at least full-length programs-point of the music festival makes, automatically by all participants ( Aachen, which also will want to see) will be visited. Anyway, I hope you…and your Department, Pella ‘(the conductor Paul P.) uppermost’, the whole heart. But even to me! For it is most proper in my interest that when this my main work, which previously was limited only to Germany, now an international Musikerschaft shows…that this is done in such a way to representative, and in so much my intensions appropriate representation, as I experienced myself in Aachen!” In fine condition, with small newspaper caption affixed to bottom of reverse, and some light show-through from text on reverse. Pre-certified John Reznikoff/PSA/DNA and RRAuction COA.
