Scottish character actor (1900-1976), best remembered for the role of Ebenezer Scrooge in the 1951 film Scrooge, and for his portrayal of Miss Fritton, the headmistress in two St. Trinian's films. Vintage matte-finish 7 x 9.75 head-and-shoulders photo, signed in fountain pen “Alastair Sim.” Also signed in pencil at the bottom right border by photographer Howard Coster (adding “London”). In fine condition, with a strip of soiling at the extreme top border, silvering to the darker edges touching the top of his head, and lightly trimmed edges. Desirable combination of the Scrooge actor in a portrait captured by the esteemed British photographer.
