Featured in this lot is a First Edition of "Alaska Days with John Muir" by S. Hall Young, 1915, Fleming H. Revell Company publisher. "Alaska Days with John Muir" by Samual Hall Young. This fascinating account describes two journeys of discovery of conservationist John Muir's travels in Alaska from 1879 to 1880. We are brought into an intimate acquaintance with this great interpreter of Nature by one who was his companion on many expeditions. Young describes Muir's ability to "slide" up glaciers, the broad Scotch he used when he was enjoying himself, and his natural affinity for Indian wisdom and theistic religion. From the gripping account of their near disastrous ascent of Glenora Peak to Young's perspective on Muir's famous dog story "Stickeen", Alaska Days is an engaging record of a friendship grounded in the shared wonders of Alaska's wild landscapes. The book features twelve black and white photo illustrations, along with a map of their travels. The light blue coloured cloth bound hardcover exhibits very slight edge scuffing, loose spine. Intact pages exhibit age tanning throughout. Measures 5.25"W x 7.5"L x 1.25"D
