Sillitoe pens a lengthy excerpt from the first chapter of “A Man of His Time.” In part: “A tin alarm clock shattering the first glimpse of daylight broke into Ernest Burton’s dreamless sleep.” A central horizontal fold and scattered creases, otherwise fine condition.
