Souvenir typescript containing four paragraphs from Alan Shepard's section of the 1962 book We Seven, one page, 8.5 x 11, signed along the top in black ink, "With personal regards—Alan Shepard." The sheet is headed, "We Seven, Six to Fill the Team, The Urge to Pioneer," and reads, in part: "I grew up in East Derry, New Hampshire, where my father, a retired Army colonel, is now an insurance broker. I was raised, if not exactly in an atmosphere of aviation, at least in the midst of mechanical things. I have a five-horsepower outboard motor which I used to take apart and put back together again. And I often helped my father when he had things to tinker with—as you usually do in a small farming town. When I was in high school, a friend of mine and I used to cycle out to the airport, which was about 10 miles from town, and do odd jobs around the hangar in exchange for a chance to take rides in an airplane now and then. I was also keen on building model airplanes. So I was interested in flying at a rather early age." In fine condition, with scattered light creasing and a few light stains.
