Shepard’s personally owned commemorative Zippo lighter in honor of his historic space flight. Lighter is engraved on the top, “Col. Alan B. Shepard, 5-5-61,” with an image on the lower portion honoring the recovery ships as well as Shepard being the first American in space. Lighter does not appear to function, but comes in its original box. Originally acquired by a friend of the Shepards who was in the employ of the Shepard family for more than 35 years. In fine condition.
