Flight-flown printed Houston Post headlines, flown to the lunar surface aboard the Apollo 14 Lunar Module, originally from the collection of Mission Commander Alan Shepard. Presented in a 2.5” Lucite cube is a printed strip of six Houston post headlines around the perimeter. The headlines include Dwight D. Eisenhower’s death, Armstrong’s moon walk, Kennedy’s assassination, and Shepard’s first flight. Top of the cube bears a copy of a handwritten letter of provenance from Shepard which reads, “This is to verify that this printed strip and the corresponding negative strip went to the Fra Mauro Base, Moon in Antares. 2/5/71. Alan B. Shepard, Commander, Apollo 14.” A unique lunar-flown item.
