British-born actor (1903–1988) best remembered for his role as butler Alfred Pennyworth in the 1960s television series Batman. ALS, one page, 6 x 9, February 26. In full: “I certainly agree with you about ‘The Uninvited’—quite the best short story ever filmed. I don’t recognise any of the pictures—that is to say remember what films they come from; and I’m not very happy about the ‘Marie’ one. Hitchcock must have required me to shave my moustache for some reason. It wasn’t much of a role anyhow—just a touch of class for Sean Connery’s background.” One of Napier’s return address labels is affixed at the top of the page. In fine condition, with scattered creases, folded upper right corner, and faint toning.
