TLS, one page, 8 x 10, NASA letterhead, March 5, 1973. Letter in response to questions sent by a space enthusiast. In part; “I suppose I can say I was a bit scared on my extra vehicular activities, but I must confess it was a very small bit…Once I had settled in the routine of working outside the spacecraft then it was no longer important where I was…I think the part of the EVA that raised my heart rate the most was when I first stepped out through the hatch and had my first look around from deep space…‘What would I have done if Dave and Jim had been unable to lift off from the lunar surface?’ The only thing left at that point would have been for me to return to Earth by myself. There is no possibility of rescuing a lunar module that’s been left on the lunar surface.” In fine condition, with light toning along top edge, and a trimmed bottom edge. Stark honesty from the Apollo 15 command module pilot.
