Al Taliaferro - Donald Duck Sunday Comic Strip Original Art, dated 3-11-62 (Walt Disney Productions, 1962). Uncle Scrooge, Donald Duck, and Huey, Dewey, and Louie, form an all-star cast of Disney ducks on this Sunday. Throw in a robot, and what an absolute winner of a page results! Al Taliaferro was the first and most important artist of the famous Donald Duck strip. Drawing the strip from 1937 to 1965, Taliaferro and principal writer Bob Karp shaped the comics' character of Donald. Later, Taliaferro was said to have written the strip himself. The Donald Duck strips are fondly remembered, and it may be because Taliaferro put so much of his family's personalities into his "Donald Duck" strips. Daisy is said to have acted a lot like Al's wife Lucy, and Grandma Duck was modeled after Lucy's mother, Donnie M. Wheaton. Many of the adventures with Bolivar were based on true incidents with the family dog George McTavis, a Scottish terrier, and Donald's car was based on a model owned by one of Taliaferro's friends. The image size is 15" x 21.5", and the art is in Excellent condition. It is very unusual to find the Carl Barks-created Uncle Scrooge McDuck in an Al Taliaferro Donald Duck Sunday page. Taliaferro's work is highly prized and with a Sunday this ducky, an early bid is advised.

Important notice: Heritage usually auctions material at the rate of 200-250 lots per hour. On some occasions eBay Live bid software or the Internet may not be able to keep up with the pace of the auction. We recommend placing a realistic absentee bid now as insurance to avoid disappointment. Occasionally the auctioneer may eliminate or reject an eBay Live bid, and the auctioneer may also reopen a lot after the close of the eBay live bidding (usually because we missed an audience bid), and may reject your bid even if it shows you as the winning bidder. By bidding via eBay Live, you agree that Heritage may award the lot to another bidder at its sole discretion under the circumstances described above or any other reasonable circumstances. Since eBay bids are not shown to us until we open the lot on the floor, we treat those bids just like floor bids. In most cases the floor responds before the eBay bid is presented to us, due to Internet lag time, so for consistency we have made it a policy that floor bids are always considered first over tie eBay live bids. Also please note that all Heritage lots purchased through eBay Live carry a 20% Buyer's Premium. Please make sure you read the Terms and Conditions before you bid.
