Al Smith: A Legendary Slogan Button Rarity. This amazing button seems almost too good to be true. One might be tempted to dismiss it as a modern fantasy piece. However this is "the real McCoy", manufactured by Torsch & Franz Badge Co. of Baltimore. While the double entendre is apparent, this is a political button reminding voters that Smith opposed Prohibition (Prohibition backers were known as "Drys", and opponents as "Wets"). In discussing the pending sale of the Bob Carter Collection with one of the hobby's leading figures, the subject of this particular button came up, and he pronounced it simply the BEST word pin in the hobby. We know of only one other example, in the Paul Perlin collection, and it was badly damaged. This one is pristine and should excite great bidder interest.

Shipping: Miscellaneous Collectibles, Smal (view shipping information)
