a) Al Shelton's personal hand tooled suitcase, done by Al himself. 24" W x 14" H x 6 3/4" D. Tooled on all sides. ALS in floral pattern on one side; image of cowboy roping a horse in a corral, with AL SHELTON beneath, on the reverse. Retains Al's ID tag, with his Studio City, CA address on one side and his business card on the reverse. A few sheets of Al's personal letterhead and envelopes included in the satin-lined case.
b) Leather art by Al of bucking bronc and rider. Signed lower right "Carving, Al Shelton". Inscribed on the reverse: "An early Masterpiece, done the first year I was/ I was in the Farmers Market with Evans of Calif. / 1948"

Al Shelton (b. 1920)
Master leatherwork artist to the stars, Al Shelton, worked in many mediums, but it was leather that brought him customers such as Clark Gable, Jack Palance, Ronald Reagan and Gene Autry, to name just a few. He worked for a time for Edward Bohlin, of whom he said, "His language, you can't even repeat it." Al closed his shop in Studio City, California in 2012 at the age of 92.
