Wide collection of photos from the personal collection of Al Capp, creator of ''Li'l Abner'', the famous comic strip that parodied a wide cast of southern hillbillies in Dogpatch, Kentucky. With 111 photos in total from theater and film adaptations of his strip, as well as publicity photos, including 18 of Capp posing with his huge signature grin, pencil and paper in hand, mid-sketch. Four photos have typed captions taped to verso, with two reading in part, ''Cartoonist Al Capp starts one of his famous drawings…'' or ''…Sgt. Henry Newell…congratulate Cartoonist Al Capp during a public relations conference at an Army post''. Other stills are from the 1940 RKO pictures musical based on the famous strip depict various actors and scenes from the film, including Buster Keaton who played ''Lonesome Polecat'' and Jeff York as ''Li'l Abner''. Some photos have photographer's stamp to verso. Housed in two manila labeled ''training'' and ''Movies + Movies'', glossy photos measure 8'' x 10'' and 10'' x 8'' with minor toning and wrinkling to edges, else very good overall.
