Al Capp - Original Art for Lil' Abner Sunday November 25, 1946 (United Features, 1946). Lil' Abner was one of the longest running and most famous syndicated comic strips. Al Capp used his Dogpatch hillbillies to poke fun at topical subjects, social trends, and politics. This strip features Mammy Yokum, Lil' Abner's Mom, punching one of the ugliest brides we ever had the misfortune to see. As is typical for Al Capp, five small pieces of art board have been taped together to form the Sunday. The page has editorial markings and light pencils marks with comparatively minor use of white-out. This is delightful art, and because of the absence Lil' Abner, is very affordable example of Capp's work. Overall size is approximately 20"x 23". Image size is approximately 19" x 22". Important notice: We expect to be auctioning lots at the rate of 200-250 per hour. Sometimes eBay Premier live bid software cannot keep up with that pace, so we strongly recommend that you place a realistic proxy bid now as insurance to avoid disappointment.
