Air Mail delay envelope from Las Vegas, Nevada.
On January 16, 1942 a TWA plane carrying Carole Lombard from Los Angles to Las Vegas crashed into Double Up Peak in the Potosi Mountains 23 miles from Las Vegas. It seems that the plane hit the granite cliff at full cruising speed imbedding the nose into the mountain and telescoping the 70' plane to 10'. All twenty-two aboard, including the Hollywood star, were killed. Few covers have been reported.
