Widely travelled forty-eighth Imam of the Shia Ismaili Muslims (1877–1957) who was much lauded for his humanitarian efforts. Handwritten telegram, signed twice “Aga Khan,” one page on a printed telegram sheet, 10.75 x 5.75, February 9, 1941. Aga Khan pens the text of a telegram to the solicitors Mulla and Mulla in Bombay. In full: “Quite impossible for me come India all round Italy and German territory only possible way by Spain to Portugal but no shipping or air service to India then except by clipper America Japan China am seriously suffering from old age prostate glands and bleeding piles this method traveling would certainly kill me before reaching India in view these facts impossible return till end war.” Light intersecting folds and filing holes to blank portion, otherwise fine condition.
