This 19th-century hand-colored steel engraving depicts Ludlow Castle in Shropshire, England, from an original work by renowned British artist Joseph Mallord William Turner. The piece was engraved by R. Wallis and published in London in 1831 for the proprietors Moon, Boys & Graves, Pall Mall. The composition presents a tranquil riverside scene with figures in the foreground gathering sheaves of wheat, while the medieval castle rises majestically beyond the river under a soft evening sky. Printed by J. T. Bowen, this fine and detailed example reflects Turner's mastery of atmospheric landscapes and the engraver's precision in translating his vision to print. Presented in a gilt wood frame with a cream mat.
