<td width="100%">
After the British most important pioneer of gay male culture Henry Scott Tuke, Born 1858 D1929, Most of his works depict boys and young men who swim, dive, and lounge, usually naked, on a boat or on the beach, the boat existed , he bought this fishing boat for 40 pounds and converted it into a floating studio and living quarters.
Although Tuke's paintings of nude youths undoubtedly appealed to those gay men who found adolescents attractive, they are never explicitly sexual. The models' genitals are almost never shown, they are almost never in physical contact with each other, and there is never any suggestion of overt sexuality.
This piece painted made after Tuke (the D means after, is French ) , is dated 1927 , while he was still alive, at the backside is still glued a dated Belgian newspaper consistent with the painting date... 1927 !! still needed to be brave
to follow the Tuke style ....both Tuke and this follower were really pionners..
Measures 11 x 16 inches without the frame.
