<td width="100%">
Late 19th or Early 20th Century Gogo Tribe Wood Sculpture Field Collected in Tanzania. This piece has great presence and can be confidently dated to late 19th or early 20th Century at the latest. The protuberant ears are a good indicator of its age. There is an old Tanzanian sculpture in the Metropolitan Museum of Art that has similarly sculpted ears, a carving style that was common to the late 19th and early 20th Century; this style of carving did not continue far into the 20th Century. This was field-collected in Tanzania, and had until recently been in the possession of a Gogo priest. This wonderful sculpture is absolutely authentic, quite old, and is an item that is not often seen on the market. Custom made base included. Very Good Condition. 14 inches (35.5cm).
