African American History, Black America subject - Sojourner Truth sepia tone photo print on heavy cardstock, created in the early 1990's for The American Heritage Galleries. 11" X 14" photo print, double matted in 16" X 20" mat, in original gallery shrink-wrapped packaging. Sojourner Truth was an American abolitionist & women's rights activist. Truth was born into slavery in Swartekill, New York, but escaped with her infant daughter to freedom in 1826. After going to court to recover her son in 1828, she became the first black woman to win such a case against a white man.
