Political Broadside for Democrat Hiester Clymer in the 1866 gubernatorial election against Republican James Geary. Broadside headed "THE TWO PLATFORMS, Every RADICAL in Congress VOTED for NEGRO SUFFRAGE….". Central graphics features Caucasian man with words "Clymer's Platform is for the White Man" beneath him. To the right a caricaturized African-American has beneath him "Geary's Platform is for the Negro". The footer of the broadside features "READ THE PLATFORMS, CONGRESS says, THE NEGRO MUST BE ALLOWED TO VOTE, OR THE STATES BE PUNISHED". Broadside measures 19" x 24" and exhibits some previous folding slight staining and has been archival backed.
