This handy treasure is a folding wallet that opens out to reveal two leather pockets that hold each a deck of cards (not complete), a scorepad, and a long loop to hold a pencil or pen. The scorepad cover has a lovely sepia-toned print entitled "Long Bridge at Charlesmont" by Messer (of course it had to be a bridge picture). The back of this cover has Contract Bridge Scoring information. There are 16 unused scoring pages. The front of the wallet is tooled (or pressed?) with a strip of stylized card suits, and a heart is centered above the snap, with scrolls extending on either side to clubs. It has a beautiful old patina. The back has an advertising stamp in gold print that reads "VENDERBUSH SHEET METAL CO." The stitching is all intact, but the piping border is has come loose on the front. This can be glued back in place. The piping was once all gold over cloth, but much of the gold has worn off. The only other evidence of its age is a tear extending up the side of the leather pouch that holds one of the decks of cards. The pouch still is attached and holds the cards just fine. This is a very unique advertising item. Please see my other vintage playing cards.
