June 1958, No.93, ill.8; private collection North Germany. Expert's Report: Drs Fred Meijer vom Rijksbureau voor kunsthistorische Documentatie (RKD), Den Haag, has inspected this painting in the original and recognised it as an autograph work by Adriaen von Ostade. Dr. Hita Doll, July 2002: "an autograph work by Adriaen van Ostade, which will be listed as such in my catalogue of work by this artist." Dr. Doll considers the painting an " excellent example of (Ostades) early work, one of a small group of tondi, dating to ca. 1632/33". Literature: Bernhard Schnackenburg,1970: essay: "Die Anfänge des Bauerninterieurs bei Adriaen und Isaak van Ostade", in:"Oud Holland" LXXXV, p.159, w/ ill. Adriaen van Ostade began his career together with Adriaen Brouwer(1636) during the 1620s in the workshop of Frans Hals in Haarlem.
