Letter is dated "February 15th '93" (at St. Louis) and addressed to Mr. Reagan Houston in San Antonio, Texas. Letter reads in full, "Dear Sir:- I regret exceedingly that the papers of the Alamo Brewery, which you say you are in immediate need of, must have been mislaid. I went over my desk very carefully, and was unable to find any except those I mailed you in a recent letter. I cannot but think, therefore, that they must have been left with Mr. Philipp Carl of the Lone Star Brewery, with whom I conferred in regard to purchasing the Alamo. Will you be kind enough to call on him and see whether my supposition is correct. With kind regards, I remain / Yours truly, A. Busch (Signed)". Adolphus Busch (1839-1913) was a German born immigrant who came to America in 1857 and settle in St. Louis, Missouri. in 1861 he married the daughter (Lilly) of Eberhard Anheuser, a wealthy soap manufacturer and the owner of the local Bavarian Brewery. When Eberhard Anheuser died in 1880, Adolphus assumed the role of President. In 1895, Anheuser-Busch purchased the Alamo Brewing Company of San Antonio, which Adolphus Busch had founded earlier along with a group of San Antonio businessmen.
