Adolphus Busch III Typed Letter Signed
Adolphus Busch III Typed Letter Signed “Adolphus Busch”. One page, 8.25” x 11”, on Anheuser-Busch company letterhead, St. Louis, January 6, 1931, to C. H. Weier, Cincinnati. This letter, written just two years before the repeal of Prohibition, expresses hope that a change in legislation might offer hope for the brewer to resume production of beer. It reads in part: “Of course, it is difficult to say in what respect this will affect our business, in which I naturally mean the return of beer, but at any rate prospects never looked better or brighter and it is to be hoped they will ultimately develop into something worthwhile.” During Prohibition, Anheuser-Busch built truck bodies and refrigerated cabinets; manufactured barley malt syrup and ice cream; and entered the baker's yeast business. From 1920 - 1927, more than 26 new products -- including a non-alcohol version of Budweiser -- were introduced to keep the company in business. With several fold creases, a small portion of the upper left corner missing, toned around the edges, else very good.

Shipping: Flat Material, Small (view shipping information)
