Nelson's seemingly odd signature here is typical of those he employed during the final years of his life. Becoming a dual citizen of sorts, Nelson proudly advertised his new title along with his English name. The letter reads, "My Dear Sir, My Brother in law Mr. George Matcham is going to Paris and purposes to make some purchases. I have therefore to request that you will ask your son to give Mr. Matcham that advice and assistance which he may require, and be so good as send me a letter for Mr. M to take with him, he purposes going on Wednesday. Included are two brass nameplates, a later 19th c. engraved portrait of Nelson and a wood fragment from Nelson's Trafalger flagship, H.M.S. Victory. Overall framed size is 31.0" x 23.0".

Important no
