Jayne Manuscript Archive</B></I>, including: both an autograph and typed version of a patent proposal (with original drawing) of an "Alternating Current Generator and Speedometer"; a typed copy of a short story, "The Smuggler"; and, a typed proposal for a film entitled "The Mermaid Fishers: The Story of the Samoa Islands", all authored by Admiral Jayne.<B> </B></I>The manuscripts are sold with assorted cover letters and transmittal envelopes.<BR>Admiral Joseph L. Jayne<B> </B></I>(1863-1928) was a Rear Admiral in the United States Navy and veteran of the Spanish-American War and World War I. He was born in Brandon, Mississippi and graduated from the United States Naval Academy in 1882. During the Spanish-American War, he commanded the USS <I>Rogers</B></I> in the naval blockade.
