Excellent document signed by Admiral David Farragut, only one month before his important victory at the Battle of Mobile Bay. This order, in fact, was written ''Off Mobile'' aboard the U.S.S. Hartford, dated 7 July 1864. In part, ''Sir, You have permission to take passage for the North in the USS Bermuda and will show this to...Lieut Smith who commands that vessel...'' signed ''D. G. Farragut / Rear Admiral''. Single page measures 7.75'' x 10'' with docketed integral leaf. Folds and light wear, in very good condition.
