Adams double-action percussion revolver, .44 caliber, 5-1/2” barrel, 12-1/2” overall. Marked “Patent number 40600” on side of frame, and engraved on top of frame “Robert Adams 76 King William St. London”. Bluefinish, checkered wood grips, cased with accessories. The revolver remains in original very good condition showing 75-85% original bright blue, drifting and toning on the cylinder with some light to slightlyscattered pitting and erosion mostly confined to the cylinder. The edges are sharp, the action is crisp, the pistol shows a side mounted rammer and a matching number on cylinder. The grips are sharp and crisp, thesmall parts show original bright and fire blue finishes. The pistol is contained within its original to the period green baize or felt lined partition style case. The pistol is laid in the box, butt to the inside(reversed, not uncommon for English casings). The lid of the case shows a original label which reads “by appointment to H.R.H. the Prime Consort”.
