Manyoki studied in Paris at the studio of Largillière, whose influence is very noticeable in the above painting. He later lived in Holland, Hamburg, Hungary, Berlin, Vienna, and finally Dresden, where he became the court painter of King August the Strong. His numerous portrait include Markgrafen Karl Ludwig von Brandenburg, Empress Maria Theresia, and the future Queen Marie Antoinette.
