Adam Offinger (nachweisbar 1575 - 1615) attributed to, Portrait of a Lady with ruff and pearls, oil on canvas, 74 x 58,5 cm, w/ frame, (Wo)€ 3.500 - 5.000 US $ 3.470 - 4.950 Adam Offinger came from a family of goldsmiths and worked mainly at the court of Duke Heinrich Julius von Braunschweig where he painted a number of portraits like the one above. The sitter is probably a young bride wearing her dowry - a piece of jewellery distinguished by its heraldic connotations (double eagle, Medici crown). Expert's Report: We would like to thank Ludwig Meyer, Archiv für Kunstgeschichte, for the attribution to Johann Ulrich Mayr.
