Items are: original carte-de-visite of William Lloyd Garrison, signed on the reverse; carte-de-visite of Elihu Burritt, signed in the lower border; cabinet card portrait of Cyrus A. Bartol, signed in the lower border; one page ALS signed by John Pemberton, dated 1761, regarding the death of his sister-in-law; one page ALS signed by Walter Wyckoff, dated 1899; AQS by Isabella Beecher Hooker, who pens a quote from George MacDonald, in full, “And the sorrows of all humanity, Through my heart make a thoroughfare”; an ink signature of Hooker on a small slip affixed to the bottom of a photo; an AQS by C. C. McCabe which reads, “Inseparably joined in heart, The friends of Jesus are. April 17–1876, Chicago”; and an AQS by Wendell Phillips which reads, “Count that day lost whose low descending sun, Lies at thy hand no worthy action done. These old lines John Brown taught to each of his children.” In overall very good to fine condition.
