Acoma Pueblo Polychrome Pottery Olla. This lovely pot has delicate features. Stands 7.5''H x 10'' diameter. An olla is a ceramic jar, often unglazed, used for cooking stews or soups, for the storage of water or dry foods, or for other purposes. The Acoma Pueblo in New Mexico is situated on top of a mesa, hundreds of feet above the surrounding land. It commands a breath-taking view of the countryside, other mesas and the distant mountains - no wonder it is called Sky City.
