This piece comes from a Private Montana collection. The piece was a gift from a Pueblo Native American Indians to William F. Crocker, and his brother, Charles Matthew Crocker. The piece is owned by William F. Crocker's granddaughter. The two brothers moved from the East to California in 1910. They came to California via “Riding the Rails” walking through the desert where they lived with the Indians on a Pueblo. He describes how they had to climb a ladder to get in. William F. Crocker told his granddaughter directly that he was gifted this very bowl by the Indian tribe around 1910 and also wrote about the event. The piece is believed to be from the Acoma people and shows some loss the paint and chipping, but overall an impressive piece. Measures 8” in diameter, 7.5” tall, with a 4 3/8” opening.
