From the Nick and Suzanne Nicholas Collection we have an Acoma Jar by Sandra Shutiva Garcia, measures 7.5''H x 7.5''W, signed on bottom by ''S. Garcia Acoma, N.M.'', eye dazzler fine line designs, sun face, stylized handles, stylized feathers encircling base, Sandra (Shutiva) Garcia (Acoma) comes from a family with strong roots in Acoma pottery making. Her great-grandmother, Jessie C. Garcia, was one of the great Acoma potters. Her mother, Stella Shutiva, is famous especially for her unique corrugated white owls. Sandra and her husband, Wilfred Garcia, are distinguished for making large, elegant white jars with ear of corn appliques or carvings of cliff dwelling scenes. Their pottery is well formed and artistic in composition and design.
