Ace In The Hole (Paramount, 1951). Lobby Card Set of 8
Ace in the Hole (Paramount, 1951). Lobby Card Set of 8 (11" X 14"). This film's original opening was a flop, so the studio rushed to change the name to "The Big Carnival" without director Billy Wilder's permission. The film stars Kirk Douglas as Charles Tatum, a big city reporter who smells an opportunity to make the big time when a miner is trapped in a cave-in. Douglas exploits the miner's plight, creating a national frenzy, and even delays the rescue to build more suspense. Paper from this film with the short-lived original title "Ace in the Hole" is difficult to find. This great set has minor signs of the alternate title snipes that were removed from the cards. They have the usual pinholes, and one card shows minor signs of silverfish nibbles in one small spot. Fine-.
