1778 - 100$000 reis share of the “General Royal Company Fisheries of the Kingdom of the Algarve” Extremely Fine conditon
Established by royal charter on January 15, 1773, with an initial capital corresponding to 400 shares, the Company Algarve Fishery had its capital increased to twice by another royal decree of July 13, 1776, with the issuance of more 400 shares. This is the fourth trading company established by the Marquis of Pombal’s initiative, in its structural reform of Portuguese society in the second half of the eighteenth century.
Among the Pombal Companies, the Company Fisheries group had lower capital and consequently fewer shares issued, as the numbers below:
General Royal Company for Agriculture of the Alto-Douro Vineyards (1755): 1,800 shares.
General Royal Company of Grand-Para and Maranhao (1755): 1,200 shares.
General Royal Company of Pernambuco and Paraiba (1759): 3,400 shares.
General Royal Company Fisheries of the Kingdom of the Algarve (1773): only 800 shares!

Numisma reserves admission rights to its auctions, by its subscribers and/or guests.
1. The lots will be sold at the place of sale and in the condition in which they are found. No complaints will be accepted after auction.

3. Should any doubts arise as to who is the highest bidder at the moment of sale, the lot in question will be put up for sale again.
4. We reserve the right to auction one or more lots together or separately.
5. Numisma will receive orders to buy and will be responsible for them during the auction.
6. Items bought should be paid for and collected within 48 hours of the auction.
7. On the importance of the auction are subject to a commission of 12.5% and on the VAT at the legal rate.
