Abraham van den Tempel (Leeuwarden 1622 - 1672) The Finding of Moses, oil on wood, 75,5 x 111 cm, w/ frame, (Wo).€ 25.000 - 35.000 US $ 24.750 - 34.650 Dr. Alfred Bader, USA and Astrid Tümpel, the latter preparing the catalogue of works by Abraham van den Tempel, after inspecting the painting in the original, have independently and unanimously identified it as an autograph work by this artist. The portrait- and figure painter van den Tempel, teacher of Carel de Moor and Michiel van Musscher, was himself influenced by Bartholomeus van der Helst. In 1653 he studied mathematics at the University of Leiden ("celeber pictor 30"-"famous painter 30 (years)"). Van den Tempel belongs to the first rank of Dutch portrait- and history painters of the 17th cent. The painting is in excellent condition.
