Abraham and Willie Lincoln on Porch of the Family Home in Springfield. This photograph was taken in the summer of 1860 by John Adams Whipple of Boston, who set up his camera in the yard across the street. Listed as #O-38; this photograph shows Lincoln, his son Willie, and barely visible without magnification, his other son Tad. The two young men in the foreground are not identified. This home was the only one Lincoln ever owned outright; he called it his "little brown cottage." This view shows how Lincoln was not only a political figure, but also a family oriented man who loved his children and his home. Humanizing photographs like this one are always popular and appeal to a wide variety of collectors. In very fine condition; slight soiling on the emulsion; small ink blemish near the left edge on recto; pencil notations on verso; no imprint; no border; square corners.

Shipping: Small Flat (view shipping information)
