Original issue of the New York Herald from April 18, 1865, eight pages, 16 x 23, published three days after the assassination of President Abraham Lincoln. The front and back pages are dedicated to a section entitled “Mourning,” with subheads reading: “Further Details of the Terrible Tragedy at Washington,” “Important Statements of Eye-witnesses,” “The Deliberate Character of the Crime Fully Established,” “Arrest of One of the Assassins,” “Numerous Persons Implicated and Several Already in Confinement,” and “The Funeral Preparations.” In very good condition, with old tape to tears, along folds, and along the hinge.
