Relic of wood from a fence built by Abraham Lincoln, measuring approximately 5.5 x 1 x .25, mounted inside a shadowbox above an old manuscript caption, in full: “Part of a fence rail, split by former President Lincoln, taken from a line fence between the farms of the father of Jake Gloze of Fremont Nebr. and the former president who constructed the fence.” Another card mounted inside identifies the relic as originating from the Lincoln Collection of Philip H. Jones of Shelton, Connecticut. Framed to an overall size of 17 x 14. In fine condition, with heavy wear to the caption.
