Exceptional handwritten legal brief, signed “Lincoln f. d.,” one page, 7.25 x 2.5, no date. Document reads, in full: “And for further plea in this behalf the said defendant says plaintiff acto non because he says the indebtedness in the declaration mentioned, did not accrue to the said plaintiff at any time within sixteen years next before the commencement of this suit; and this the defendant is ready to verify, wherefore H.” Double-matted and framed with a portrait of Lincoln to an overall size of 22.25 x 28. In fine, clean condition, with a single horizontal fold through last line of text. A particularly well-preserved example with over 50 words in Lincoln’s hand. Oversized.
