War-dated partly-printed vellum DS as president, one page, 14.25 x 17.75, March 13, 1863. President Lincoln appoints Anton Block to “Assistant Adjutant General of Volunteers with the rank of Captain.” Signed at the conclusion by Lincoln and countersigned by Secretary of War Edwin Stanton. Matted and framed with a portrait of Lincoln to an overall size of 29 x 24.5. Intersecting folds, handwritten portions of document faded, but still legible, scattered soiling, and Lincoln’s and Stanton’s signatures a few shades light, but still completely legible, otherwise very good condition. The blue seal is worn and creased, but intact. Oversized.
