Abraham Lincoln Unsigned Autograph Document. No place (Sangamon Co., Ill.), 25 July 1844, three-quarters page, folio. A report signed by E.C. Blankinship and Jesse Trailor, administrators of Archibald Trailor, in which they state that agreeable to court order they have sold certain described real estate including several lots in "E. Iles' addition to the city of Springfield" and "have procured conveyances to be made" to the "purchasers…and taken bonds & security and mortgages in the premises to secure the purchase money." Blankinship had known Lincoln since his New Salem days, while Elijah Iles, a prominent Springfield merchant and land speculator, had commanded one of the Black Hawk War companies in which Lincoln served. A nice-looking document. From the Henry E. Luhrs Collection.
