Abraham Lincoln: An Exceptional and Unusual Silk Memorial Ribbon. Lincoln's death was a national tragedy which occasioned the production of a wide variety of mourning items including more designs of silk ribbons than had been made for his two presidential candidacies. These ribbons remain popular and highly collectible. Most varieties are barely half the size of the present example and in a completely different style: simple black and white coloration with woodcut images. This version features gilt portrait and lettering including "He set the millions free". Black silk ribbon borders were machine sewn in place prior to the printing of the design and lettering which sometimes overlap that border. Condition is absolutely pristine and it has been elegantly custom framed by the previous owner. One of the nicest Lincoln mourning ribbons we have encountered. Dimensions: 2.5" x 9.5", ribbon only. As framed, 5.5" x 16.75".

Shipping: Framed - with Glass, Large (view shipping information)
